How To Beat Depression After Plastic surgery

By Tu Tran

If you watch reality television shows such as Instant Makeover, you notice all the participants are very happy and excited after their plastic surgery. For some people, it is usually much different. Some people feel not very satisfied with the surgery or their friends and family think differently of them.

Also, you be surprised some of your best friends are very jealous of your new look and may treat you differently. So, here are a few ways you can cope with depression after plastic surgery:

Find Support

Reach out to people who are in a similar situation. There are several Internet forums you can join and read about other people experiences. You are not alone, there are many other people who are in the same situation as you. Send a few posts, and try to get their phone numbers because it is better to let out your emotions talking to someone rather than typing it down.

Talk To Your Surgeon

You may discover your surgeon can refer you to a counselor or previous patients from him/her so you can talk to. Your surgeon may also suggests other strategies you can do to make you feel better.

Family

Talk to your family members about how you feel about your change in appearance. It is better to clear up any misunderstanding with your children and your partner.

Exercise

Exercise is very good for you because it helps to stimulate productions of endorphins and increase your blood circulation which makes you feel much better. Try to exercise for at least twenty minutes a day. Not only will help you feel better, it would also decreases any chances of post-operation complications.
